Prof. Dr. Mark Cole

Professor of Media and Telecommunication Law
Acting as head of the media law research team of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance of the University of Luxembourg Prof. Dr. Mark Cole is specialized in the Law of the New Information Technologies, Media and Communications Law. He is involved in a variety of projects spanning the fields of data protection, broadcast regulation and internet law. His media law team is characterized by the diversity of research areas as well as the cooperative, interdisciplinary approach exemplified by its collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) of the University of Luxembourg.
Topics of current interest are the need for re-thinking the EU Copyright regime, the transposition and implementation of the Audiovisual Media Services Directive within the EU Member States, the upcoming Data Protection Regulation and its potential application to businesses in Luxembourg and the rest of Europe, cloud computing and data protection by design as well as competition law as related to the media and communications sector.
