Summer School IT Law and Legal Informatics 2024
Apply now: from August 5 to 14, 2024 the Institute of Legal Informatics will once again host its international and interdisciplinary Summer School on Saarland University campus. Participants may expect a highly topical and exciting program from the field of IT and law with renowned international speakers as well as varied excursions to the greater Saarbrücken region. The Summer School is primarily aimed at young researchers and practitioners keen to discuss cutting-edge research questions from IT Law and Legal Informatics in an international forum. Online-Workshop: Court decisions made by AI?
Flight delays, unjustified rent increases or fraudulent diesel engines: although the number of lawsuits before German civil courts has slightly decreased, the courts and the judges suffer under an overload of monotonous legal disputes. In an international and interdisciplinary workshop at the Institute for Legal Informatics on 9 August 2023, current issues surrounding the use of AI systems in the legal field will be examined by experts from the judiciary, the legal tech industry and academia. The workshop is part of the “Explainable Intelligent Systems” project funded by the Volkswagen Foundations.
Digitalising of Public Administration in Japan and Germany
On Wednesday, February 8, from 1 p.m. to 4.30 p.m., the Institute of Legal Informatics will host a conference together with Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo, Japan. The international event focusses the digitalization of administration in Germany and Japan. As speakers, Professor Dr. Georg Borges has invited the following renowned experts: Professor Mayu Terada from Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo, Professor Takehiro Ohya from Keio University, Tokyo, and Dr. Christian Geminn from the University of Kassel.
