As part of its international and interdisciplinary Summer School IT Law and Legal Informatics 2022 at Saarland University in Saarbrücken, the Institute of Legal Informatics is offering a Workshop on Legal Informatics open to all and free of charge from August 17-19.

On June 24, 9.30 a.m, Professor Dr. Georg Borges will give a lecture forming part of the seminar "Controlling the State in the Digital Era", which he was invited to by the Institute’s Co-Director Professor Dr. Philippe Cossalter. Prof. Borges’ lecture on "Liability for autonomous systems" will help shaping the two-day seminar examining the question of how to control the state and its relationship to the digital world. The project is part of a cooperation between the University of Lorraine and Saarland University. We cordially invite you to participate. More information and registration

Law DIGITAL will be the topic of this year´s International Legal Informatics Symposium, IRIS 2022 held from February 23 to 26. The rich and compelling programme, designed by renowned legal experts, will mark an anniversary of cutting-edge topics between law and informatics. Professor Dr. Georg Borges will give a presentation in the "Robotics and Artificial Intelligence I" session, on Feb. 24, 2 p.m. and Dr. Andreas Sesing-Wagenpfeil will present on Feb. 24, 4:30 p.m. Members of the chair of Professor Dr. Chrtistoph Sorge will also be among the contributors. Apply now: From August 8 to 19, 2022, once again after a two-year break, the Institute of Legal Informatics will organize a summer school on the campus of the Saarland University. Participants will be offered a highly topical and exciting program from the field of IT law and legal informatics including lectures by renowned experts as well as varied excursions to the surroundings. The Summer School is aimed at young researchers, practitioners and students, who would like to discuss current issues from IT law and legal informatics in an international forum. On Tuesday, February 8., at 6:15 p.m., the public lecture series "Data Protection in Practice" will conclude the current winter semester with a lecture under the heading "The JHA Directive and Data Processing by Security Authorities". Guest speaker will be Mathias Gisch of the Independent Data Protection Center Saarland. The online lecture is free of charge and open to the public.
