E-justice, legal tech, smart contracts - for aspiring lawyers, the work environment of the future does not only contain paragraphs, but also requires interdisciplinary digital competence in a highly connected society. The LL.M. programme "Information Technology and Law" and the certificate programme "IT-Law and Legal Informatics" of the Institute of Legal Informatics offers two interdisciplinary courses at the cutting edge of IT and law, combining legal expertise with fundamental competences in the IT field.
Smart products at the center of the Münster Colloquium
On June 11, Professor Georg Borges gave a lecture on topic of "Liability for smart products which develop after being put on the market" at the 6th Münster Colloquium. The main topic of the colloquium was the legal issues surrounding smart products. The online event was organized by the Center for European Private Law at the University of Münster.
On data protection in the vehicle of the future
Whether by radar, camera or on-board computer - automated driving requires a huge amount of data. But how is personal data of road users collected, processed and stored? On Thursday, June 17, at 5 p.m., Dr. Andreas Sesing will talk about the data protection regulations that apply to the use of AI applications in highly automated vehicles. "Discrimination by artificial intelligence" was the topic of Professor Dr. Georg Borges' lecture on June 1. He illustrated the complex interconnections when algorithmic decision making is compared to decision making by humans. More than 80 people followed the exciting online event, which was part of the "Trier Talks on Law and Digitalization (TGRD)".

On Tuesday, June 1, Professor Georg Borges will be a guest at the University of Trier. As part of the "Trier Talks on Law and Digitalization (TGRD)", he will give a presentation on the topic of "Discrimination by Artificial Intelligence" and report on his current research. The Trier Lecture Series continues the public lecture series that was held in cooperation with the FB Law during the 2019/20 winter term.
