Hamburg, Augsburg, Cologne - on November 12, students of the Master's programme "Information Technology and Law“ from all over Germany came to Saabrücken for the welcoming event of the LL.M. „IT and Law“. Professor Dr. Georg Borges welcomed roughly 20 „newcomers" on campus and nearly 70 LL.M. participants online. Thus, with more than twice as many participants as in the previous cohort, the successful LL.M. programme started into its third round in the current winter semester.
After an opening speech by Professor Borges, the Institute of Legal Informatics' director, Professor Dr. Marco Mansdörfer, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, welcomed the participants online on the big screen. Thereafter several lecturers introduced themselves to the master students online and on site.
Professor Borges also introduced the Institute of Legal Informatics’ exceptional offerings, such as the „Montagspost“ or the Summer School, and highlighted current research projects. The LL.M. students have the opportunity to immerse themselves in ongoing projects as part of their studies, thus working close and interdisciplinary on cutting edge research in the field of digitalization and law."We like to do research!" emphasized Borges emphatically.
The Instiuts' study coordinator, Dr. Adriana Pavić, explained the master's programme in great detail. She described the structure of the programme and gave examples of the modules from the compulsory and elective areas that participants can attend and combine. Dr. Pavić, in her role as study coordinator, is also the first contact person for the students.
Afterwards, the participants on site took the opportunity to meet their fellow LL.M. students. For this purpose the Institute had prepared a reception, which the attendees greatly enjoyed.
