Whether student, lawyer or judge – current decisions of the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) form the basis of every legal practitioner. However, the BGH's traditional "Monday Mail," which provides information about the most recent decisions of the previous week, has not been accessible to the general public until now. This is going to change now: After an initial successful test run, the electronic “Monday Mail” is now being launched.
The Institute of Legal Informatics, headed by Prof. Dr. Georg Borges, has taken up the concept of the “Monday Mail” on the initiative of and in cooperation with Jun.-Prof. Dr. Dominik Brodowski and now offers a publicly accessible “Monday Mail”. Users can select precisely those criteria according to which they would like to be informed - for example, by legal field, file number or applied legislation.
This service is based on the system developed by Natalia Orlova, a member of staff at the Institute of Legal Informatics, which analyzes BGH decisions according to a defined grid and extracts the available information. These are then delivered by mail once a week – free of charge.
